Greek fisherman detained by Turkish coast guard

The Turkish coast guard on Wednesday detained a Greek fisherman after he was deemed to have violated Turkish waters off the coast of Lesvos, sources said.

The captain of the fishing boat, named Aghios Nikolaos, was fishing off the coast of Sykamia when he entered Turkish waters, reports said.

Turkish coast guard officers detained him for questioning while the vessel was confiscated.

The fisherman informed his relatives who briefed Greek authorities and the case was being handled by the Greek Foreign Ministry late on Wednesday.
