Leftist lawyers interrupt Athens Bar Association meeting
Around 50 lawyers aligned with leftist SYRIZA and far-left Antarsya on Tuesday interrupted a session of the Athens Bar Association’s board of directors who had been meeting to discuss this Sunday’s referendum.
In comments to Skai, the head of the association, Vassilis Alexandris, remarked that the meeting had “nothing to do with the yes or the no in the referendum but the legal conditions for carrying it out.”
A member of the board who is allied with SYRIZA, Vassilis Papastergiou, said there was intense discontent among some lawyers that the association would issue a decision similar to one released by Thessaloniki lawyers that essentially backs a yes vote.
