BoG chief repeats that he can’t appear in House before July 6

Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras has again told Parliament Speaker Zoe Constantopoulou that he will not be available before July 6 to appear before parliamentary committees to answer questions relating to the Siemens cash-for-contracts scandal as well as about the recent publication of the central bank’s monetary policy report, which raised concerns about a possible failure by the government to conclude talks with lenders.

Stournaras said he was “at the disposal of Parliament” but could not visit the House in the coming days as he is participating in daily conference calls with fellow board members of the European Central Bank regarding the level of emergency liquidity to Greek banks.

Stournaras signed an out-of-court settlement with Siemens in summer 2012 when he was finance minister.
