Two men arrested for separate murders over holiday

A 31-year-old man was arrested in Drama, northeastern Greece, on Thursday on suspicion of murdering his partner in a public park. According to police, the suspect got into an argument with the 39-year-old woman, leading him to punch and kick her in the head.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at the local hospital.

Police said the 31-year-old was known to them as he had been linked to robberies in the past.

A 37-year-old man was also arrested in Karditsa, central Greece, for allegedly murdering his 83-year-old mother at the home they shared.

The man is alleged to have stabbed the woman. The circumstances of the attack were not clear.
