Woman in critical condition from deadly Athens crash
Two people died and one was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after a driver lost control of his car on Athens’s busy Petrou Ralli Street.
The driver, a 27-year-old Albanian, smashed into a taxi and also hit a 30-year-old Albanian woman and a 23-year-old police officer, killing them both instantly. Witnesses said the driver had accelerated in a bid to beat a red light. Another woman, who was not identified, was hurt and remained in critical condition late last night. The 27-year-old and a 67-year-old Egyptian man sustained light injuries. The former was kept in the hospital under armed guard.
The driver has been arrested.
Separately, a 32-year-old police officer was killed late on Tuesday night after being hit by a car on Kifissou Avenue.
