Court to start hearing appeals of Tsochatzopoulos, 16 others
An Athens court is on Friday to start hearing the appeal of former Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos and 16 others against the heavy sentences they were given last year after being implicated in a huge-money laundering network set up by the one-time Socialist strongman.
Tsochatzopoulos, 75, as well as his wife Viki Stamati and his daughter Areti Tsochatzopoulou are among the 17 appealing their terms.
The ex-minister is currently serving a 20-year sentence at Korydallos high-security prison in Athens.
His wife and daughter are serving 12-year terms.
