Widower, 83, to be charged for claiming dead wife’s pension
An 83-year-old man is to stand trial for fraud after it emerged that he had been illegally claiming his dead wife’s pension for more than a decade.
The police said on Tuesday that the unnamed man is to be charged by a Piraeus prosecutor with fraud and money laundering after authorities discovered that he had continued to collect his late wife’s pension even after he remarried, thereby receiving some 36,000 euros from the Social Insurance Institute (IKA) that he was not entitled to.
