Coast guard rescues 30 migrants off Farmakonisi
The Greek Coast Guard rescued 30 irregular migrants off the coast of Farmakonisi in the southern Aegean on Monday, according to reports.
The details of the rescue are not known but the migrants were transported to the island of Leros.
Nine children and three women drowned off Farmakonisi in January when their boat was allegedly pushed back towards Turkish waters by a Greek coast guard patrol vessel. The incident is under investigation.
