Syrian delegation grounded at Athens airport
Syrian state television said a plane carrying a delegation to international peace talks in Switzerland on Tuesday was “prevented from refueling” after it landed at Athens International Airport, Reuters has reported.
The report said that the plane had obtained permission to pass through the relevant airspace and land at Athens for refueling.
The delegation is headed by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moualem and is en route to the Geneva 2 peace conference for the Middle East.
It was not immediately clear why Greek authorities grounded the craft. [Combined reports]
