Larko worker, 41, falls to his death
A 41-year-old worker at the Larco mining company, in Fthiotida, central Greece, died of injuries sustained on Monday after falling 20 meters onto the ground while doing maintenance work.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were not immediately clear.
In a statement on Monday, the Greek Communist Party (KKE) condemned the lack of adequate safety measures and the intensification of labor.
The deliberate discrediting of the mining company, the KKE statement said, is aimed at “bringing [Larco] into the hands of the capitalists.”
The ailing firm is in the list of state-owned companies up for privatization.
