Police turn to Epirus in Trikala fugitives manhunt
Police moved their attention from central Greece to Epirus in the northwest of the country on Friday as they attempted to apprehend at least two of six fugitives from Trikala Prison who are still on the run.
Extra land and sea patrols were put in place to prevent the criminals from returning to their homeland, Albania.
Police sources said that they were trying to track down Marian Kola and Ilir Koupa, who they had been close to capturing in central Greece earlier this week.
The other four fugitives are thought to have either made it back to Albania or be hiding in other parts of Greece.
Police shot dead two men near the town of Koniska on Tuesday as they tried to apprehend some of the fugitives. One was an escapee.
