MEP Theodoros Skylakakis elected new Drasi president
MEP Theodoros Skylakakis was voted the new president of the Drasi pro-business party on Saturday. Skylakakis, once of New Democracy and then Democratic Alliance, received 70 of the 100 votes at a meeting of the party’s central committee in Athens.
“I want to be the first among equals in our effort to further a reformist vision,” he said after his election.
Skylakakis has pledged not to stand again as an MEP in next May’s European Parliament elections.
Drasi gained 1.8 percent of the vote in last May’s national elections and 1.6 as part of an alliance with Recreate Greece in the ensuing June ballot.
