Missing girl found, man she met on Facebook arrested
A livestock breeder near Kavala in northeastern Greece played a vital role on Friday in reuniting a 13-year-old girl with her family and leading police to the 23-year-old man she had run away with.
Police arrested Marjon Ajazi, an Albanian, in a forest in the Loutra area on Friday afternoon, five days after teenager Christina Krassa went missing from her home in Spata, eastern Attica. Police believe the pair met via Facebook and that Krassa took an intercity bus to Kavala on Sunday.
The pair appear to have hidden in the forest but approached the farmer, for whom Ajazi had worked in the past, for food and water on Tuesday.
Late on Thursday, the livestock breeder convinced the 23-year-old to leave the girl with him so he could hand her over to authorities. He then indicated to police where they might find the suspect.
The girl was taken to a local hospital for medical checks and is due to see a child psychologist after returning home.
