Gun licenses come under scrutiny after Golden Dawn MP’s weapon goes off in airport
Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias on Tuesday called for a re-examination of the licenses of all 60 firearms issued to MPs after a shotgun belonging to ultra-right deputy Antonis Gregos went off inside Athens International Airport.
Gregos was charged with the improper use of a firearm after his gun went off at the Aegean Airlines counter as he had been preparing to hand over the weapon before a flight to Thessaloniki. No one was injured in the incident.
Gregos claimed he had not left a bullet in the chamber of the gun while Aegean Airlines staff maintained the opposite. A ministry source said police were seeking to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
