Civil servants’ union to stage Athens protest on Wednesday
Reacting to the government’s agreement with the troika to lay off 15,000 civil servants by the end of next year, the union representing the country’s public sector workers ADEDY said it was organizing a protest rally on Wednesday at 12.30 at the capital’s Klafthmonos Square.
To enable employees to attend the rally, ADEDY called a three-hour work stoppage for Wednesday, starting at noon.
The union of secondary school teachers OLME called on its members to join Wednesday’s rally. OLME has already called work stoppages for Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
