Journalist Costas Vaxevanis to stand trial again

Journalist Costas Vaxevanis is set to stand trial on March 4 for a second time over his decision to publish the names and details of more than 2,000 Greeks with deposits at the Geneva branch of HSBC.

The so-called Lagarde list was published in Vaxevanis’s Hot Doc magazine last October, leading to him being prosecuted for breach of privacy.

Vaxevanis was acquitted but public prosecutor Athanasia Vlachou appealed the decision, which means the journalist will have to appear in an Athens appeals court next month.
