IKA staff walk off the job to protest layoffs
Employees of the Social Security Foundation (IKA) walked off the job on Friday to protest a recent government decision to dismiss 500 colleagues who had been recruited following an application process overseen by the Supreme Council for Personnel Selection (ASEP).
Workers held a protest outside IKA’s central offices, demanding that the decision be revoked. They were to march to the Labor and Social Insurance later in the day in a bid to seek an audience with the minister and discuss their grievances.
