Watchdog for water to be created soon
Greece is poised to create a watchdog to oversee the pricing of water as it prepares to privatize the Athens and Thessaloniki water companies (EYDAP and EYATH), Kathimerini understands.
The Environment and Infrastructure ministries are planning for the creation of the new body, along the lines of the Regulatory Authority for Energy, by the end of the year. The watchdog will also be responsible for monitoring the environmental aspects of water provision and the overall management of resources.
