Five top Energa and Hellas Power executives to face magistrate

NOTICE-UPDATE Ekathimerini.com, in compliance with the general principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Law 4624/2019, and taking into account the principles of proportionality and data accuracy, informs its readers that, by virtue of decision no. 575/2024 of the Supreme Court of Greece, which adjudicated the case under articles 528 – 529 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, all individuals involved and accused in the Energa-Hellas Power case have been declared innocent of the charges brought against them for the acts of embezzlement, smuggling, and money laundering committed jointly and repeatedly.

Five high-ranking executives of private energy providers Energa and Hellas Power were arrested on Tuesday on charges of smuggling and money laundering.

The defendants were to face an examining magistrate.

Hellas Power and Energa had their licenses suspended in January by DESMIE, Greece?s electricity grid operator, over some 200 million euros in unpaid debts.
