Strong winds cancel ferry services

Winds reaching 8 on the Beaufort scale led to the cancellation of a number of scheduled ferry departures on Monday.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, Aghia Marina-Styra services linking mainland Greece to the island of Evia were cancelled, similarly to ferry services operating in the Saronic Gulf, connecting the port of Piraeus with the islands of Aegina, Agistri, Poros, Hydra and Spetses.

Strong winds also led to the cancellation of the following scheduled ferry departures for Crete late on Sunday: Eleftherios Venizelos to Hania, Knossos Palace and Superfast XII to Iraklio.

There were no ferries operating in the Kavala-Prinou-Thassos-Alexandroupolis and Samothraki ferry network on Monday.

Meanwhile, ferries running the Igoumenitsa-Corfu and Igoumenitsa-Lefkimi routes were operating on schedule.
