Ink for tax bills running dry
The government department that sends out tax bills and statements to citizens has virtually run out of ink because of the sudden increase in the number of documents it is printing and due to its supplier not having been paid, Sunday?s Kathimerini understands.
Sources said that the Finance Ministry?s General Secretariat of Information Systems has enough ink to print another 300,000 documents and is asking taxpayers to print their own tax documents via the online system.
The shortage appears to have been created by cutbacks in the public sector, which means the company that supplies the department with ink for its printers has not been paid and has stopped its deliveries.
The ministry is in the process of finalizing a tender for a new company to supply ink for the next three years. It hopes to have signed the deal by the end of the year.
