Magistrate defended over Psomiadis bail

The judges and prosecutors? union on Friday issued a statement in support of magistrate Giorgos Kassimis, who was heavily criticized recently for granting bail to soccer club chairman and businessman Makis Psomiadis (photo).

The union said that those commenting on the case were not in full possession of the facts.

Psomiadis, arrested after more than two months on the run from authorities who suspect him of being a key player in a match-fixing ring, has disappeared since being bailed.
