Greece moving forward, Papandreou says

?Greece is moving forward,? Prime Minister George Papandreou said Thursday in Brussels after meeting with European Union President Herman Van Rompuy.

?We are determined to implement [the necessary] changes, painful as these may be,? Papandreou said of the reforms demanded by the debt-wrecked country’s international creditors, adding that the crisis ?can become an opportunity for Greece as well as Europe.?

The meeting Thursday comes just days before a European Union summit, now scheduled for October 23, to discuss the euro-zone debt crisis.

Papandreou said the goal is to cooperate and find a comprehensive solution to the crisis facing the euro area, including fixing problems at the institutional level.
