Man arrested in northern Athens for threatening minors with improvised knife

A 49-year-old man of Chinese origin was arrested on Saturday evening in the Halandri area of northern Athens for violating weapons laws and making threats.
According to an official statement from the Hellenic Police, the man allegedly threatened two 13-year-olds and another minor with a knife tied to a 57-cm iron rod.
Police officers called to the scene located the 49-year-old, who attempted to discard the makeshift weapon.
The suspect was brought before a prosecutor. According to sources, the man claimed that the children had been throwing bitter oranges at his house.
