Ex-PE teacher in Crete being investigated for child abuse

Police in Iraklio, Crete, are investigating multiple child abuse allegations against a retired physical education teacher dating back to the late 1980s.

According to the Cretalive news website, a relative of one of the 63-year-old’s alleged victims filed a formal complaint against the educator in late September, claiming that he had, on multiple occasions, sexually abused six children under his care between 1986 and 2010. The report also indicated that all six children were related to the educator.

The statute of limitations has expired in five of the six cases, according to Cretalive, which said that the sixth case concerns a young man who is 19 years old today.

The news website reported that a petition has been made or will be made soon to the relevant authorities to waive the suspect’s privacy and publish his name and photograph so that other potential victims may come forward.
