Man arrested for carrying bag full of grenades in Piraeus

A 27-year-old man accused of transporting a bag full of grenades surrendered to authorities on Wednesday in Piraeus, following an incident that occurred on Saturday morning in Keratsini.

The man was riding a motorcycle with another person when he ignored police orders to stop, leading to a pursuit.

During the chase, he discarded a bag reported to contain four grenades, a handgun and a baton, prompting an immediate response from the police bomb squad.

The 27-year-old claimed to police that he possessed the weapons for his own protection due to ongoing disputes.

Sources told Kathimerini that the motorcycle’s passenger was also arrested.
