Detainee takes own life at police headquarters in Thessaloniki

A 42-year-old man reportedly took his own life early Thursday morning in the detention cells at the Hellenic Police headquarters in Thessaloniki.

The man, who was awaiting trial for robbery and weapons charges, was about to be transferred to the Larissa correctional facility.

It has been reported that he hanged himself using a bed sheet. He was found around 1.30 a.m. on Thursday.
