Money laundering investigation ordered in Mykonos surveyor’s murder case
A money laundering investigation has been ordered for the suspect in the murder of surveyor Panagiotis Stathis in Neo Psychiko, along with another individual being probed for possible involvement.
According to sources, Charalambos Vourliotis, head of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority and honorary Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, directed a thorough examination of the financial and property assets of the 44-year-old suspect and the second person under investigation. The assets of their associates will also be scrutinized.
Stathis, a land surveyor frequently visiting Mykonos, was shot outside his Athens office, prompting an investigation into his professional activities and financial affairs for potential motives.
Earlier on Thursday, the 44-year-old suspect was ordered to remain in police custody following his three hour testimony.
