Supreme court prosecutor orders immediate investigation into organized crime activities

Supreme Court Prosecutor Georgia Adeilini issued an order on Wednesday for the immediate investigation of cases involving criminal organizations, money laundering, homicides, and other serious offenses linked to mafia networks on Mykonos, other Cycladic islands, as well as in Athens and Thessaloniki. Specifically, Adeilini instructed the prosecutor overseeing police investigations into organized crime to promptly investigate these serious criminal activities, particularly on Mykonos.

This initiative follows the recent cold-blooded assassination of civil engineer Panagiotis Stathis, who was professionally active on the island, in the northern Athenian suburb of Neo Psychiko.

To thoroughly investigate these crimes, Adeilini ordered the use of all necessary means, including lifting telephone and other confidentialities (such as banking and tax records). She also requested to be kept closely informed of the progress of the investigations.
