Greek high schoolers must submit university choices by next week based on exam scores
High school graduates in Greece have nine days to submit their university subject preferences based on their national exam scores and the minimum entry scores announced Tuesday for each program.
Students took the four university entrance exams last month in subjects aligned with their academic focus, whether in science, the humanities or technical fields.
Candidates must submit their preference forms by midnight next Thursday. They can only choose programs with a minimum entry score that matches or is lower than their exam results.
Stratos Stratigakis, a teacher and analyst, describes this process as a “fifth exam,” crucial for defining one’s academic future. He pointed out common mistakes, such as applying to too many programs or mistakenly equating higher entry scores with better education quality. Additionally, some candidates overlook regional departments with lower entry scores that offer strong programs.
