Inmate confesses to Korydallos prison murder

A man has confessed to killing a fellow 35-year-old inmate from Albania during a riot in the west wing of the Korydallos prison on Wednesday afternoon.

He is also accused of injuring a 46-year-old man from Kosovo.

According to reports, the clash occurred among prisoners in Block D of the correctional facility when one group refused to return to their cells.

The murdered inmate had been convicted of two murders during robberies, one in 2017 against a businessman and another against an elderly woman.

In 2018, he escaped from a ship in Piraeus but was apprehended in Nea Philadelphia following a police operation by EKAM.
