Taverna cook arrested for starting fire near Athens

A taverna cook has been arrested for causing a wildfire that broke out Thursday in low vegetation near Varybobi, at the foot of Mount Parnitha in northern Athens.

Officers from the Fire Service’s Arson Crimes Unit apprehended the man, who was fined 3,300 euros. 

He will appear before the Prosecutor of Misdemeanors in Athens on Friday morning.
