Houthis launch missile attack against Greek-owned bulk carrier
Greek-owned bulk carrier “Yannis” came under missile attack by Yemen’s Houthis while crossing the Red Sea on Thursday, AFP reports.
Reportedly, the attack took place 68 miles off the Yemeni port of Hudayda and caused no damage to the ship.
According to Marine Traffic, The malta-flagged “Yannis” is owned by the Greek shipping company Eastern Mediterranean Maritime Limited. It had departed from Russia and was headed to Kenya.
Since November, Houthi rebels are targeting ships sailing on Red Sea and the gulf of Aden with commercial ties to the United States, Israel and the United Kingdom.
Greek-owned ships have been repeatedly targeted. In April, the ship “Cyclades” suffered damages after being struck by a Houthi missile.
