Website launched to help with ‘Life with COPD’
The Hellenic Thoracic Society has launched the website “Life with COPD” (zoimehap.gr), which could also be described as a “digital gym,” with instructions for home exercise for sufferers.
People with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can watch and follow special videos of breathing exercises and muscle-strengthening exercises to improve their cardiorespiratory fitness.
“Until recently we had more than 400,000 visits and views of the audiovisual material. What we are told by the site’s users is that it works well. Patients feel they are doing something good for themselves. It builds their psychology and has helped them to a great extent to have activities that they didn’t have before,” Adriana Papaioannou, assistant professor of pulmonology at the University of Athens, stressed.
