Arson attack targets houseware store reportedly owned by soccer referee

A homemade explosive device went off outside a houseware store reportedly owned by a Super League soccer referee in the western Athens suburb of Peristeri in the early hours of Thursday.

The explosion damaged its glass panels and caused a small fire which was put out by the fire brigade.

According to the police, unknown persons approached the store on Dervenakion Street at around 2.30 a.m. and planted the incendiary device.
