Former SYRIZA minister likens new leader to Donald Trump after expulsion
A day after being expelled from SYRIZA, Nikos Filis, a former education minister, launched an attack on the new leader of the leftist opposition party, Stefanos Kasselakis, drawing a parallel between him and former US President Donald Trump.
“Three elements defined Trump’s style,” Filis stated on Kontra TV late Tuesday. “First, he claimed to be the best entrepreneur and that he could become the best president of America. Second, he had the support of the dark web. And third, he managed to take over the Republican party with his own views, rather than creating a new [party],” Filis said. “All three of these elements sound familiar,” he added.
Kasselakis, who is currently in the US, had announced on Monday evening that he was expelling Filis, Panos Skourletis, and Dimitris Vitsas from SYRIZA for acting as “TV sponsors” of conservative Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
