Tax men shut beach bar for 4 days after ‘panic button’ found
A well-known beach bar has been ordered to close for four days after it was found to be operating software designed to trick tax inspectors.
Officials from the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) found that the business, located in Kavouri, Vouliagmeni, in southwest Athens, was using a so-called “panic button.”
The software enables businesses, with the press of a button on a mobile phone, to issue in one go all the receipts that they should have produced to customers during the day.
The inspectors were on a return visit to the beach bar, which they had ordered to close for two days during the summer for failing to issue receipts. [AMNA]
