Man arrested in Perama for beating dog

Police arrested a 38-year-old man in the Piraeus suburb of Perama on Sunday on charges that he was beating his pet dog.
In a statement, police said they detained the man after receiving a complaint and examining photographic evidence of the abuse that was allegedly posted on social media by a witness. The video showed the man repeatedly hitting the crying dog as it cowered in a corner on a rooftop terrace.
The incident reportedly occurred two days earlier at the suspect’s home.
