Kasselakis welcomes mayoral win of Haris Doukas

SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis welcomed the victory of Haris Doukas in the Athens mayoral election against incumbent Kostas Bakoyannis, on Sunday night.
“Tonight marks the first crack in Mitsotakis’ regime,” he said, referring to the prime minister. “This is what happens when progressive people unite, pushing away privileged sons, the cronies, and the corrupt.”
Kasselakis said that in the first round of elections on October 8 he had said that his party would support any progressive candidate, if SYRIZA’s choice did not make it through to the runoff.
“This is the new SYRIZA, the contemporary Left,” he said.
