Public opinion polls after the election of SYRIZA’s new leader
The governing political party, New Democracy, maintained its leading position after the election of SYRIZA president Stefanos Kasselakis, according to three new public opinion polls that were published on Thursday. Despite Kasselakis’ election, the official opposition party has not gained momentum. ND got 15.5 to 17 percent more votes than SYRIZA in the opinion polls.
In the Metron Analysis public opinion poll, Kasselakis ranked fifth in the popularity of political leaders behind current leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Dimitris Koutsoumpas (Communist Party of Greece), Nikos Androulakis (PASOK) and Zoe Konstantopoulou (Course of Freedom).
According to the ALCO poll, only 37% of SYRIZA voters believed that the party’s image improved after the election of Kasselakis.
Moreover, citizens considered the steep rise in prices to be the biggest problem Greece is facing. According to Metron Analysis, 36% of the voters agreed with that statement.
Lastly, one in two citizens appeared dissatisfied with the state’s reactions to Storm Daniel.
