Samaria Gorge to close on Friday over bad weather
One of Crete’s most popular tourism and trekking sites, the Samaria Gorge, will be closed on Friday.
The decision to close the 16 km ravine, one of Europe’s longest, was taken on Thursday after Storm Elias pounded the central and eastern mainland before heading east to the islands.
A listed natural park, the gorge is open to the public from May to October and receives thousands of visitors every year.
