Man in Zografou, possibly armed, threatening to open fire from apartment

A man who police believes to be armed has barricaded himself in his apartment in the district of Zografou in central Athens on Thursday and is threatening to open fire.
A unit of the crime prevention and suppression team (OPKE) and a negotiator were dispatched outside an apartment building on Agias Lavras Street, after police received calls by residents saying they had heard gunshots.
It is still unclear why the man barricaded himself in his apartment and why. Officers have cordoned off the area.
