Authorities await DNA test for possible link to missing Austrians
Greek authorities are expecting the results of two DNA tests to identify the remains of a man and a woman who were found on Mount Pelion in the last few days.
Authorities want to establish whether the two are the Austrian newly weds who went missing during the devastating floods caused by storm Daniel.
Coast guard crews found a woman’s body on the beach of Theotokos on August 8, and a man’s body was pulled from the sea off the coast of Mourta beach on September 13 and taken to a morgue for identification. Both villages are in eastern Pilio,
Official sources said the DNA procedure can last up to 20 days.
The missing Austrian couple had rented a vacation home in the coastal village of Potistika, which was destroyed by a torrent of floodwater.
