SYRIZA requesting House debate on Thessaly disaster
In response to the floods, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance will ask for a discussion at the level of party leaders in Parliament about the “unprecedented catastrophe that has leveled the greatest section of Thessaly,” the party’s parliamentary group president Sokratis Famellos said Wednesday.
He mentioned in a plenary session that the locals are disgruntled and desperate. However, in order to find a solution, the main opposition party is “assuming the initiative to bring the issue before Parliament for discussion, about both how we got to this point and what needs to be done today and tomorrow.”
He stated that SYRIZA is submitting “a question and request to the prime minister to provide documents on the government’s actions to guarantee EU funding for the restoration of destruction in Thessaly and of the local economy.”
“We are requesting that he provides us with all the documents,” he said.
