Erdogan expresses solidarity in wake of deadly fires, floods in Greece
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a letter to his Greek counterpart, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, to express solidarity in the wake of the devastating wildfires and floods that have struck Greece over the past month.
According to an announcement from the Greek president’s office on Wednesday, Erdogan expressed condolences for the victims of the fires and floods.
He also said that Turkey stands ready to help its neighbor in these difficult times, the announcement said.
The letter comes as the Turkish president is due to meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in New York next week to discuss the possibility of resuming talks between the two countries.
