112 alert issued following blaze at Aspropyrgos recycling unit

The civil protection authorities have issued a 112 alert to residents in Aspropyrgos, west of Athens, asking them to stay in their homes and to close their doors and windows after a fire broke out in a recycling unit.
The fire, which broke out at 2.10 p.m. in the exterior of the property, is being fueled by burning tires, vehicles and recyclable materials.
