Fires burn near Tripoli and Serres
The Hellenic Fire Service responded to fires burning near the cities of Tripoli in the Peloponnese and Serres in northern Greece.
The fire in Tripoli is burning in a wooded area and is not threatening any homes, though the strong winds blowing in the area have exacerbated the situation. There are 92 firefighters, 14 vehicles, six airplanes and three helicopters on scene.
The Serres blaze is burning in a cultivated wooded area. The HFS mobilized 37 firefighters, 12 vehicles and a helicopter to put out the fire.
