Diver dies while inspecting vessel at Lavrio port

A 45-year-old diver lost his life while performing underwater works on a docked vessel at the port of Lavrio, east of Athens, Wednesday.
Initial reports indicate that the diver became trapped in sea chests, which are portholes designed to draw in seawater for cooling the ship’s engines and generators.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
