Man arrested for sexual assault in Monastiraki

A 34-year-old Algerian man was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday on charges of sexual assault against a 42-year-old woman from the Czech Republic in Monastiraki, in central Athens.
According to the police, just before 5 a.m., the suspect approached the 42-year-old woman in Monastiraki Square and demanded her engagement in indecent acts.
The woman promptly reported the incident to the police, and officers swiftly arrived at the scene, apprehending the man. The suspect will be brought before the prosecutor for further legal proceedings.
