Karaivaz murder suspects given deadline to testify
The two men arrested on Friday on suspicion of murdering journalist George Karaivaz two years ago outside his house have been given until Wednesday to testify before an investigating magistrate.
The suspects, who are brothers aged 40 and 48, were transported under strict security to the Evelpidon courts complex shortly before noon on Saturday.
At a press conference, Police gave details that led to the arrest of the two men.
They said that the suspects used at least a scooter as well as a van to approach and escape from the scene of the crime. The van belongs to a company associated with the 48-year-old suspect.
They also visited the scene of the crime a day before the murder.
Karaivaz was murdered outside his home, in the coastal Athens suburb of Alimos, as he returned from work in April 2021. An experienced crime reporter, Karaivaz had private and professional connections in the Greek underworld and among corrupt police officers connected to it. He wrote extensively about both on his blog, Bloko.
